چکیده

In the pervasive computing era, mobile phones and personal digital assistants are widely used for data collection. The traditional user interfaces which are employed for data collection in personal computer environments are to be modified appropriately for the mobile environment. Because, it is difficult to display full interface on a single mobile screen due to the limitation of the mobile phone screen size. Interface tailoring methods are investigated in the literature for designing user interface for mobile screens. In the literature, temporality-based approach is proposed for designing efficient user interface for personal computer environment. In this paper, we extend the notion of attribute temporality to interface tailoring methods and propose an improved user interface design approach for small screens. The analysis on the real-world datasets shows that the proposed approach can be used for better user interface design for small screens.

Blocking Short-Wavelength Component of the Visible Light Emitted by Smartphones’ Screens Improves Human Sleep Quality

Background: It has been shown that short-wavelength blue component of the visible light spectrum can alter the circadian rhythm and suppress the level of melatonin hormone. The short-wavelength light emitted by smartphones’ screens can affect the sleep quality of the people who use these devices at night through suppression of melatonin. Objectives: In this study, we examined the effects of co...

Tailoring Tendon Transfer Surgery and Rehabilitation for a Musician: A Case Study

Tendon transfers in hand patients are a commonly performed procedure after extensor tendon rupture. However, the standard side to side technique is not applicable in every patient. We present a case of a musician with unique demands to demonstrate the option to customize surgical technique and therapy regimen to the unique needs of each patient. An extensor indicis proprius to extensor digit...

Roller Interface for Mobile Device Applications

Mobile devices generally have small screens. To display information that is well suited for larger screens (e.g. desktop computers), the information has to be segmented into many small presentation units that can fit into the small screen of mobile devices. This makes it difficult to effectively organize information and help users navigate to and from the information they want. This paper prese...

A Novel User Interface Approach For Managing Large Character Set on Small Mobile Screen

The constrained nature of Mobile devices imposes great challenges on effective user interfaces for game playability. This paper addresses the issue controlling large set of characters on small screens with constrained mobile keys. To this effect we implemented the a mobile version of the Mauritian Domino ( MomoDomino) game consisting of 27 dominoes to test our novel interface design for the con...

Cement-Implant Interface Fracture Failure by Crack Initiation Due to Interface Cavity Stress Concentration

Nowadays total joint replacements are widely used in the world, so in average 800,000 joint surgeries are done yearly only in Europe and North America. However implant loosening is and remains as the major issue of all implant failures and therefore causes revision surgery procedures. Studies and experiments have identified poor fixation of implants most likely is the main cause of long term im...
